This way - unlike other stimulants such as amphetamines or caffeine - Adrafinil has the ability to cause mental stimulation without affecting heart rate or raising blood pressure.

Adrafinil is a prodrug, meaning that it is not active as such, but once ingested is broken down in the body into an active chemical. In the body Adrafinil is metabolized to modafinil resulting the drugs to have almost identical pharmacological effects.

The recommended Adrafinil dosage is one or two 300mg tablets twice a day. However, if the drug is used continuously one should take liver enzyme blood tests to avoid health problems.

Adrafinil is relatively safe drug. However, it should not be used along with major tranquillizers neither by people with epilepsy, liver or kidney impairment. Because the compound contains sulfur, Adrafinil generates a unique smell in the urine.

Since the drug is widely available and does not require a prescription one can easily buy it on the internet. Adrafinil was banned by the World Sports Organizations after wide abuse by sports athletes. It is believed that the drug's ability to stimulate the brain results in better performances on the track field.
